The Center for Self-Care offers Mindfulness retreats, workshops, classes, and presentations focused on self-care, stress management, and self-compassion. The company was founded by Marc Balcer and Josh Gansky, who have a passion for working with adults. Marc and Josh have experience leading mindfulness groups, workshops, classes and retreats with a special focus on educators, men, athletes, and the work place. Marc and Josh integrate their Mindfulness Based Stress Management, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Mindful Self-Compassion, and Mindful Schools training with their experience as educators and entrepreneurs to support personal development and transformation.
Marc and Josh became friends four years ago. They connected immediately because of their passion for Mindfulness, love of teaching, and how they wanted to make a positive impact on their community, and world, by teaching and helping others see the importance of making their care a priority in their lives.
They began meeting and talking on and off during this time about how they wanted to create a community where people could come together and focus on their care through Mindfulness. They are proud to say that we have made this a reality.
Marc Balcer brings a passion for self-discovery within group settings to the Center for Self-Care. The founder of YourMindfulCoach.com, he brings innovative programs including Mindful Tools for Stress Management and Men Sitting By A Fire to C4SC. Marc teaches 7th through 11th grade Social-Emotional Learning at The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, PA. Marc received his undergraduate degree from Haverford College and holds an M.S. in Nonprofit Leadership from University of Pennsylvania. He has completed the practicum in Mindfulness-Based Stress Management at the Penn Center for Mindfulness and trains regularly with his guiding teacher, Sudhir Jonathan Foust.
Josh believes when we take care of ourselves, we can be at our best, have more balance in our lives, and be more present for the people in our lives (family, friends, and colleagues). Also, as adults we want our kids to learn healthy coping skills, make healthy choice, and decisions. Connecting and building relationships is at the heart of all we do and it starts with self-care. Josh Gansky is a middle school counselor, who has worked at both the middle school and high school levels. He received his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and his Master’s Degree in K-12 and Higher Education School Counseling from West Chester University. He is the founder of Dum Spiro Spero, LLC and received his Mindfulness training and supervision through Thomas Jefferson University Hospital’s Mindfulness Institute.
